Ingredients :
2 cups self-rising flour or 2 cups all purpose flour plus 1 Tbsp Baking Powder;
1 Tbsp sugar; 1/4 tsp sea salt; 2 Tbsp butter cut into very small pieces;
1 clove garlic, minced; 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese;
1 cup milk ( I used almond milk )
1 egg, beaten for the egg wash
Directions :
Preheat oven to 425F. Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl,
add the sugar and mix well. Cut in the cold butter pieces, then add the cheese and
garlic and mix well. Gradually add the milk, stir just until the dough holds together.
Turn onto a floured surface, the dough will be very sticky. Using a dough scraper
fold the dough a few times, adding more flour if needed. Shape and pat the dough
into a 1/2" thick round and cut into 8 wedges. Arrange at least 1" apart on an
ungreased baking sheet. Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg.
Bake 13 - 15 mins until golden brown.
