Ingredients :
For the dough :
1 cup water; 1/4 cup milk ( I used almond milk ); 1/4 cup olive oil; 1/3 cup sugar;
4 cups all purpose flour; 2 tsp baking powder; 2 tsp instant yeast
For the filling :
300g lean ground pork; 400g white cabbage, finely chopped; 2 Tbsp chopped green onion
Seasoning : 2 Tbsp soy sauce; 1 Tbsp oyster sauce; 2 Tbsp oil, ( I used grape seed oil );
2 Tbsp sesame seed oil; 1/2 tsp sea salt; 2 Tbsp cornstarch mix with 1 Tbsp water
Directions :
For the dough : Place all ingredients into the bread machine pan, liquid first and the yeast last.
Press the Dough button. When the cycle is done, take the dough out, gently
press to release air. Knead into a ball and divide into 15 - 20 pieces. Roll each
out into round, put about 2 Tbsp of the filling in the middle and form into a
bun by gathering the dough up and close by twisting the top. Let the buns rest
for 30 minutes covered with plastic wrap.
For the filling : Mix the chopped cabbage with the ground pork then add the seasoning, stir until
it becomes sticky, cover and put inside the refrigerator until the dough is ready.
To cook : Line the steamer with a nonstick cheese cloth ( I used hemp cloth ), arrange the buns
inside, make sure to leave enough space for the buns to expand. Steam on high heat
for 20 - 25 minutes. Turn the heat off, wait 5 minutes before taking the buns out.
